COVID-19 Doula Support
We recognize that we work with a vulnerable population and consider this in our daily actions. We are following COVID-19 guidelines outlined by the CDC. Our support is tailored to each unique circumstance and any given restriction at your birthing location.
If preferred, we offer meetings virtually throughout your pregnancy, during birth and postpartum. If we are not permitted at your birthing location, we will help you and your partner plan for success. When possible and desired, we will labor at home with you as long as approved by your care provider. In the postpartum period we will connect you with virtual support in the community, provide postpartum virtual consults and connect you with new mom postpartum villages.
Does Doula Support Make a Difference During a Pandemic?
The national cesarean rate is approximately 31.9% and the epidural/spinal rate is approximately 70% in our country. During COVID-19, our group has supported an average of 10 births a month and our cesarean rate is under 5% and epidural/spinal rate less than 25%. Yes, doulas make a difference! Below are stories from our clients that bravely birthed during COVID-19.
“Lisa was able to provide support and continuity…as external stressors from COVID mounted in the final months of my pregnancy.”
Lisa was able to provide support and continuity – beyond the excellent medical care I received – as external stressors from COVID mounted in the final months of my pregnancy. She also tailored birth prep to the particular circumstances of COVID – providing me with frequent updates on hospital procedures and phone consultation on topics that might otherwise have been in person visits or fallen by the wayside. – WW
“Having the support of a doula during the COVID pandemic was priceless.”
Having the support of a doula during the COVID pandemic was priceless. Haley was able to offer support and knowledge I didn’t have access to. She was able to provide me with fair warning of the changing hospital policies with visitors and support me as my birthing plan changed because of them. In addition, she was able to be an extra person in the labor room and work her magic. – NW
“During a pandemic, this limited intervention helped lower the stress of the staff by lowering the need for PPE”
With Lisa’s assistance, we were able to have an unmedicated birth as we hoped. During a pandemic, this limited intervention helped lower the stress of the staff by lowering the need for PPE, lower exposure without an epidural or cesarean. – KN
“I cannot express enough praise and gratitude for Haley, she is incredible.”
We chose to deliver at the Birth Center of Boulder. When we opted for an unmedicated birth, we knew we needed the support of a doula; especially now during COVID. I cannot express enough praise and gratitude for Haley, she is incredible. – EC
“At a time of heightened stress and anxiety, the work of a doula is even more imperative…”
Lisa was an advocate for us and our wishes throughout the labor and delivery process as well as support and guidance in the postpartum period; vital for new parents, especially during a time of uncertainty and limited resources. At a time of heightened stress and anxiety, the work of a doula is even more imperative to support and guide mothers and their partners through childbirth. – KD
